Salah El-din Citadel
Overview
One of the most famous landmarks of Cairo, the Citadel is a treasure trove for those interested in the wonderful and ancient history of Cairo. Salah El-Din Citadel was built in 1176 AD, on the orders of Sultan Salah El-din to protect Cairo from attacks from outsiders. One of the strongest citadels of that time, it was a major architectural feat of the Ayyubids. Now the site contains other historical landmarks such as the Egyptian Military Museum, Muhammad Ali Mosque, Al-Nasir Muhammad Mosque.

Entry Fee: $9.50 per person
Opening Hours: 8 AM to 5 PM (Mondays to Sundays), 8 AM to 4 PM (Fridays)
